Andrea teaches dynamic, core-focused classes weekly at BLUE LOTUS IN RALEIGH, NC. Her methodology is rooted in functional biomechanics, with an emphasis on anatomical alignment and intelligent sequencing. She encourages students to develop their own sense of body wisdom by facilitating the opportunity for exploration of a challenging practice, while still abiding by their own physical limitations.
STRENGTH & STABILITY
This class incorporates isolated repetitive movements, drawing awareness to the “deep core” or more specifically, the gluteal muscles and hamstrings to help target the abdominal wall. Poses with emphasis on drawing into the midline of the body will be held for a longer duration, building the foundation for long-term strength and stability. When your deep core is strong and activated, your balance improves and you can practice regular yoga asana more safely. An awakened core can also prevent low back pain and other injuries that can often result from weaker abdominals and glutes.
